Huawei announces mid range Android 2.2 ‘Ideos’ handset

Today at IFA in Berlin, Huawei announced the launch of its mid range Android 2.2 handset, the Ideos.

The Ideos specs include:

  • A 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display (320 x 240)
  • 528 MHz processor
  • 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera
  • HSDPA 3G, Wi-Fi, 3G hotspot capable (up to 8 devices)
  • microSD card slot

“Available in black, yellow, blue, and purple, the IDEOS, with Android 2.2 pre-installed, not only runs fast, but also supports functions such as voice dialing, voice navigation, and the ability to run applications off the SD card. With more than 70,000 applications available in the Android Market, IDEOS provides a wide range of communication, entertainment, office, and financial management applications.”

Launching mid-October prices are expected to be around £99-129 as a pay as you go handset.

12.03 – Update: Engadget now have hands-on time with the Ideos and they’re quite impressed. The biggest issue is the small screen size but at the initial price point indications it’s acceptable.
