The site Kodawarisan is reporting that Apple will be holding a Media Event on September 7th. Traditionally the September Media Events are used for the introduction of new iPod devices, but after the omission of a new iPhone5 product launch at WWDC this year the speculation is that Apple has held of until later in the year.
With recent rumours that the iPhone5 is with carriers for testing it seems likely the device is close to completion and a September announcement followed by an October/November launch in time for Christmas seems plausible and ties in with an earlier report of a mid September announcement from The China Times.
