As part of the Xperia Studio campaign to promote the Xperia range of handsets, they asked British filmmaker Tom Harper to create a short film, captured entirely on Xperia Arc S handsets.

Based on the premise of an alien invasion in London, Tom set out to make the film feel very real – as if you were experiencing a real alien invasion, in the same manner that we experienced footage from the Arab Spring or the Tsunami. To create this feeling, much of the filming was shot by the actors themselves holding the phones to capture the first person view and feel.

The short film Swarm, and the making of videos are both below, we think they’re brilliant and make good use of the excellent camera found in the Xperia Arc S. This sin’t the first unusual prmotional idea used for the Xperia Arc – take a look at how they made flowers grow using nothing but the light from Xperia Arc screens!
