Apple brings out new updates and upgrades consistently at regular intervals and the brand value of the company is such, that both users and non-users of Apple’s devices are eager to know the latest development, the latest features or the latest device(s) launched by the company. This explains why developers and non-developers looked forward to the WWDC 2012 with bated breath.
Usually, many rumors do the rounds just before Apple officially announces any of its updates or upgrades. Many times, these speculations turn out to be true as well. For example, there were strong rumors of Facebook integration (taking a cue from the Twitter integration in the iOS5) and Apple Maps App before iOS 6 was officially launched and when it was finally unveiled, it did have these features.
So, we have a brand new version of the iOS and a new iPad device, launched in the past two quarters. This leaves users guessing what might come up in the last quarter (around fall) of the year. It can be anything like – new features for its existing devices, upgrades or a completely new device.
The focus has shifted to other things now
WWDC 2012, held in June brought forth the iOS 6 with many innovative features and functionalities. Now that the cat is out of the bag, fans and users will surely expect something more exciting and something far better to come their way in the future. Enough speculations have been made about a new iPhone (5) and we have already seen the new ‘Resolutionary ’ iPad. This leaves us guessing what Apple will give its users next?
Enter the iPad mini.
Speculations are rife that Apple might launch a mini version of its iPad device this year by fall. Most of the rumors regarding the iPad mini device are more or less based upon the features and functions of the new iPad device.
Possible features and functions of the iPad mini
There are strong rumors about an iPad ‘mini’ that might be launched this fall and reportedly, it will be a 7-inch tablet device, that will more or less retain the features and functions of the new iPad and will be available at a low price range for the users.
Chances are that it will consist of a 2048×1536 resolution, 356 ppi (pixel density) and most probably will be priced around $200 ; we can’t really say anything about storage though, maybe it will start at 8 GB and go up to 32 GB as well. Additionally, the iPad mini may consist of features like Retina Display, Siri voice assistant, 4G LTE connectivity etc., and include the iOS 6, which will enhance its functionalities and features.
In all, we can expect the iPad mini to be have the best features of the iPhone 4S and the new iPad devices (so that users may have the best of both). However, it is too early to say anything for sure and let us just wait till the next quarter and see if Apple indeed launches the device and if it does launch it, then which of the rumors will finally come true.
