My Google Nexus 7 arrived today, earlier than anticipated, but it seems like Google decided to give everyone an early treat.
The Nexus 7 arrives in a pretty small box, with a slip case on the outside partially showing the Nexus 7 tablet.
Taking the slip case off (which took some effort – its an extremely snug fit) reveals a plain black box with the word nexus in silver. Lift the lid off this and you see the Nexus7 in its protective plastic.
Underneath the tablet are the accessories, but there really isn’t much to speak of here. There is a USB power adapter, USB to microUSB cable, and a small warranty bookelt. Thats your lot!
Taking off the plastic protector reveals the Nexus with its soft touch easy grip back and its beautiful screen.
It feels great to hold, and I agree with previous comments, the side bezels seem fine, nice and thin, but the top and bottom bezels are deeper than expected.
The homescreen is available in portrait only, but once orientation is unlocked (which is locked on by default) then most Apps and screens will rotate as needed.
There was an immediate Android OS update available, and the Nexus 7 is now running Android Jellybean 4.1.1
I’ll add more when I’ve used the Nexus7 for a bit.
