Google’s Nexus 7 Tablet Will Launch Without Music Or Film Purchase In The U.K.

The Nexus 7 tablet announced at Google I/O on June 27th is very much a media consumption device with the Apps for Google Play, Books, Movies, and Music preloaded and front and centre on the homescreen.

However most of the Apps will only be available in the US market as licensing deals have yet to be struck for magazines and Movies purchases. Google Music has yet to launch in the UK at all, so that isn’t available either.

The only content initially available in the UK will be Movie Rentals, Apps and eBooks. The Nexus 7 is aimed to take on the Kindle Fire which has a similar range of movies, music and eBook availability in the US. The Fire hasn’t launched at all in the UK yet, so if Google move quickly abnd expand their content availability they could grab a sizeable portion of the UK market before Amazon can even launch their competitor.
