Microsoft has announced that for the first time in 25 years they now have a new logo. Described as coming in advance of “one of the most significant waves of product launches in Microsoft’s history” the new logo represents a new era for Microsoft.

The new logo (above) ties in with the recent design styles that Microsoft has been shaping in Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8, namely clean simple lines and square flat blocks of colour. The font used is Segoe which is now the standard font for Microsoft products and communications.
The new style is also scheduled to come to the Xbox 360, the Windows Surface RT tablet interface and Office 2013.
It’s been 25 years since we’ve updated the Microsoft logo and now is the perfect time for a change. This is an incredibly exciting year for Microsoft as we prepare to release new versions of nearly all of our products.
