iOS6 Developer Preview Accepting Some Airline Boarding Passes Into Passbook

One of the new features Apple unveiled in iOS6 was the Passbook application, billed to be a central repository for all things ticket related; movie tickets, retail coupons, loyalty cards and boarding passes.

Ausbt.com has a story sent in by on of their users, showing that the backend for this is already fully integrated by some companies.

Reader Shaun Lorrain checked in for a Virgin Australia flight using the airline’s mobile website on his iPhone, which is running a developer preview edition of iOS 6 – and received the following prompt.

Apple also said that Passbook is time and location sensitive, so as the time approaches that you will need a specific item, such as a boarding pass for a flight, Passbook will show these on your lock screen for you, so you can access them straight away.
