Review: Healthy Back Bag – Baby Bag
I was given a lovely Healthy Back Bag – Baby Bag to review and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Being a very busy mum of little 6 month old Jasper, and having my 8 year old step son arrive from America, I needed something light, compact and easy to use and was presented with this backpack! The backpack is not only a lovely vibrant blue (very important for ‘yummy mummy’ status) but it is lightweight and easy to carry.
The backpack can be carried over the shoulder, or across the body and what is even better, I can put it across the body and also then carry Jasper in his Baby Bjorn. This means, I am hands free for the other little terror. I loved the fact the backpack came with a variety of inside compartments, this meant enough room for all my essentials, and an outside pocket for my phone. I use my phone a lot when out and about, and the need to have it easily accessible yet somewhere safe, was no problem with this pack.
The bag hangs asymmetrically, so weight is distributed throughout the length of the bag, and doesn’t pull from one point on the shoulder, thereby reducing stress on the shoulders, neck, and back. This makes carrying the bag more comfortable, and makes it feel significantly lighter because the more places a bag touches you as you are wearing it, the lighter it feels and the less it adversely affects your posture.
I really liked the many pockets on the outside of the bag too. Not only was there a large one at the front but a longer side pocket (big enough for a water bottle for older child) and pockets on the back of the bag (for phone, purse, and dummy). The bag also has an adjustable strap which means it can be tight across your body, or used more casually on the arm.
This is good for spreading weight and especially if you have had a difficult and painful labour, it takes the pressure off one side of your body and puts the weight evenly across your back. It also means that my 8 year old step son, due to it being bright, light and modern, could carry the backpack for me too!
Another bonus feature about this bag is the deceivingly huge space inside; it looks like a normal bag, but with pockets, a waterproof zip back (perfect for wet/soiled clothes) and a changing mat, there is still lots of room for bottles, wipes, nappies, rattle and keys! I love the fact the whole of this bag is washable (yes its the type of fabric that is covered in apple puree, can be wiped clean) and it looks expensive (yes, I am a bag snob!). It’s fab for throwing in the car, marching round town and for days and trips out. Because of its versatility, it’s easily transformed into a ‘day’ bag that males or females can use, so therefore a unisex changing bag. So now you don’t need two changing bags (like I currently have) but you can have one shared changing bag, that either sex can use for the day.
I really love this bag and think it is a great ‘outdoor’ unisex day bag; easy and lightweight and able to be used for all occasions. It is bright and has enough pockets for all your items, especially compartments for things like keys, money and of course a phone that are safe, yet easy to get to. Its easily washable, spreads the weight evenly and comes with a changing mat and wet safe bag!
Would I buy one, yes! Why? Because I can then give it to the hubby to carry and he can’t moan about it being too ‘girly’ and its light and really easy to clean (perfect for a mummy on the go!).
The Baby Bag is available from The Healthy Back Bag website for £54.00.
