The Opposites is a new children’s learning game from Mindshapes, which follows a pair of twins who take different sides on just about everything – even which words to use!
Players must observe the twins’ word battle, matching up over 500 pairs of opposing words in increasingly difficult levels as they develop their vocabulary and reading skills.
The Opposites has been developed for children aged seven and up and starts with easy pairs such as “up/down” and “in/out” getting more challenging as the game progresses, until they are dealing with descriptive words and even technical terms. It has been developed for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and costs £1.99. It looks like the game hasn’t hit the UK iTunes store yet, but we’ll let you know when it does.
James Peak, Educational Consultant at Mindshapes, states:
With The Opposites, we’ve created an entertaining and beautifully designed way to develop literacy skills. This app encourages young players to think deeply about new words and their meanings.
