Women soldiers

In the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game which was released in 2007, women soldiers were not an option. However, they were introduced into the COD games in the year 2013 in the release for that year which was entitled Ghosts. This was the year when the United States Military ended the ban on women soldiers being part of active combat. Now they are also part of the new COD Modern Warfare Remastered.

Supply Drops

One of the most acclaimed resources in COD is the Supply Drops feature. It has been available to fans ever since Advanced Warfare was released in 2014. This feature is also available in Modern Warfare Remastered after the recent patch (13th December).

Supply Drops are items that are obtained during the course of the game for free. They contain health recharges, ammunition as well as other items required by a soldier in the field. Supply Drops can be acquired for free or unlocked with Call of Duty Points. This is a digital currency which you can purchase using real cash. This feature is bound to encourage dedicated gameplay throughout this new COD title.

Currently everything from the supply drops is a cosmetic enhancement, there are no additional weapons or nerfs or buffs to existing ones. The community has voiced its opinion strongly not to mess with the original game, so lets hope Activision doesn’t start heading down this path.

New graphics

One of the most striking improvements in the Call of Duty Modern Warfare remastered is the graphics. Raven Software have made a complete overhaul of the graphics in the game and added modern touches in terms of clarity and gameplay physics. They have performed an excellent job of bringing the classic game into the future. The structure of the game features is exactly the same. For example, you still get the same Heads Up display (HUD) and compass located in the bottom centre of the game. However, they have all been upgraded with new graphics and High Definition details.

There are significant improvements in the lighting, models and textures in the game. Thanks to this, the weapons in the game are punchy and the audio is clearer and crisper. There are more than 27 unique options for tweaking your graphics in this new game.

These features have been divided into a total of 7 categories. These are Post Process, Shader, Anti-Aliasing, Shadow, Texture, Display and Miscellaneous. Once you begin to explore these settings, you can discover selectors which assist you to edit subsurface scattering, shadow maps, the depth of field as well as resolutions of texture.

The amazing array of graphical adjustment allows you to even pick which shaders you want for the in-game action and the ones you desire for the cut-scenes. COD Modern Warfare Remastered has definitely revolutionised the graphics for First Person Shooter (FPS) games.

COD Modern Warfare Remastered vs COD4

Call of Duty 4 for Xbox 360 is the pre-cursor of the new COD Modern Warfare Remastered. It has some advantages over the new game such as splitscreen multiplayer capablity when playing offline. It also has a 12 player cap while COD MWR has 10. On the other hand, COD Modern Warfare Remastered has some advantages over COD4. It allows you to perform complete graphical and control customization. You can adjust various aspects such as the game’s dead zones, the speed of the camera as well as enjoy the amazing squad-mate gameplay mode. Pound for pound, COD4 and COD Modern Warfare Remastered are equal in terms of capability.

Conclusion

For Call of Duty fans, the new Moden Warfare Remastered is an exciting release. They get to enjoy the nostalgic moments of one of the greatest FPS games ever. With amazing attention to detail, Raven software have created a memorable addition to the Call of Duty game collection with this new release.

Releasing two COD titles at the same time is unprecedented, and pro players who make their living from playing COD via events, streaming  and sponsorship are unsure what the split in titles will do for their audience this year.

The last 3 generation of COD titles (Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3, and Infinite Warfare) have all featured enhanced movement systems, and a strong base of players have been calling for traditional ‘boots on the ground’ gameplay which MWR delivers in spades.

>> You can buy Modern Warfare Remastered as part of the Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition game.

There are rumours that after Christmas, MWR will be available as a standalone download, separated from IW, but for now you need to buy the Legacy Edition combo.
