When I got my iPhone X, apart from unwrapping it, the first thought through my head was what case to put on it. The iPhone X is the most expensive iPhone Apple have ever produced at £999 for the 64Gb version, and £1149 for the 256Gb version.
Preferring minimal cases as much as possible, I was very interested in the Tech21 Pure Clear case, and jumped at the chance to review it. Based in the UK, Tech21 have a strong focus on protection as well as style. I particularly liked that they have worked with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) to develop an independent measurement procedure to provide customer confidence in testing and protection claims.
The Tech21 Pure Clear is a high quality product. the cuts and overlays for the buttons are all very precise, and a great fit on the iPhone X. The bumper around the edges is very solid, and the claims that it will provide protection up to a 10′ fall seem very reasonable. Of course you’re relaying on the phone landing on an edge, not flat, but its still very reassuring. I love clear phone cases, as they let you enjoy the colour and design of the phone as much as possible.
The technology in the case is what provides this protection, with the bumpers (edges) containing two separate materials to provide an “effective two-layer protection system which spreads out and absorbs impact energy”
if when the phone is dropped.
The bumpers provide a raised profile to the front of the phone, lifting the screen away from any flat surface you lay it on. It’s hard to photograph, but the camera lens in the photo below is sitting slightly lower than the rear of the case itself, providing protection against any scrapes along a surface. You can also see the case leaves both speaker grills and lightning port as accessible as possible.
Tech21 have thought about how the case will last over time too. The Pure Clear contains Enhanced UV-yellowing resistance material to ensure it doesn’t ‘yellow’ and fade over time. It also has a scratch resistant finish to make sure it looks a good as it can showing off your iPhone X for as long as it can.
The case also doesn’t affect the wireless charging in any way, which works perfectly with my Anker Wireless Charger Charging Pad.
The Tech21 Pure Clear case for the iPhone X is an excellent case, built with quality in mind that should provide protection and durability for the lifetime of your iPhone X. Its great value at around £29.95 giving great protection to the most expensive item you’ll likely be carrying around while still letting you enjoy the sleek form factor as much as possible.
